Interested?? Drop us a line.? Not ready yourself, but know someone who is?? Forward this along or let us know who might fit the bill.? Don't let this opportunity pass.

ADVANTAGES

============

If your job today has started to feel like the movie Groundhog Day, RadiSys can offer you something new.? As a Staff Compliance Engineer, you'll guide our product development teams through the safety, EMC, Environmental and NEBS requirements for their products.? Our website only begins to show the wide variety of products we develop and end-use markets and geographies we serve.? The right candidate for this position will be able to adapt ITE and telecom standards and similar requirements to the specific needs of a program or customer.? They will provide technical guidance for the development team on how to ensure products sail through certifications with plenty of margin.? To be clear - it isn't all glory.? Being on the cutting edge means making this happen is hard work.? If you're up for the challenge - tell us why you can get it done for us better than anyone else.

BENEFITS

========

At RadiSys, the job isn't nine-to-five - the job is to get results.? Sometimes that's more than an average workweek - and sometimes it's less.? RadiSys rewards outstanding performance not just with competitive pay and a solid package of standard benefits, but with key intangibles like the flexibility for top talent to achieve strong results on their own terms.? The world is 24/7.? Life moves fast.? If you're the type who runs in the front of the pack, RadiSys is the place for you.

?

This job is in Oregon, which most of us think is a great place to work.? If you're from around here, you probably already know, but if you're not, we encourage you to take a look at what we have to offer.? It's not Silicon Valley or Boston, though there are streaks of each in some of what you'll find here.? Oregon is unique and putting it into words doesn't do it justice.? If you're new to Oregon or Oregon is new to you, take a look at what's important to you and talk about it with friends and family - and, of course, with us.? We know that this is only going to work if you and your family are happy living in a place you love.? If that's not Oregon, then this job's probably not a solid fit for you.

CAPABILITIES

============

At RadiSys, a Staff Engineer has at least 12 years combined post-graduate and relevant work experience with progressively increasing levels of responsibility and accomplishments.? The successful candidate will join a team of compliance, reliability and quality engineers in the Engineering Services group of our 200+ member R&D organization.? They will support teams at design centers around the globe and customers in a broad range of geographies.? The ideal candidate will be versant in virtually all details of ITE and telecom product standards (e.g. 60950) relevant to the position, as well as familiar with requirements of other end-use standards that customers may require.? Since RadiSys provides equipment to telecommunications carriers, a solid background in Telcordia NEBS (e.g. GR-63, GR-1089) and equivalent ETSI requirements (ETS 300 386, ETS 300 019) is vital to success in this position.

?

Our engineers are hands-on and not afraid to jump in to solve problems.? We have solid internal resources to facilitate this and will outsource elements where that makes the most sense.? A typical day will range from knocking out e-mails from program teams, to diving into the lab for tests, reviewing schematics or specs, writing reports and supporting products after their release.? Our team consists mainly of generalists who cover all areas, with minimal sub-specialty in the range of technical areas we support, but we all support each other.? We work with a wide range of external labs like UL and TUV to get things done.? Coordinating approvals for electromagnetic compatability (e.g. FCC, ICES-003) frequently means working with a broader spectrum of labs.? Coordinating internal and external work with appropriate attention to risk management for key program milestones is critical to success for this position.

?

The ideal candidate must be very comfortable working with a wide range of computers, software, operating systems and electronics.? They must be able to read schematics and provide a technical analysis based on applicable standards and test targets for the program.? They must be ready to jump in and operate the equipment being tested (with support from the development team) and are frequently in the position of demonstrating acceptable operation to test lab personnel.? If your idea of compliance has someone else carrying the ball for most of the submittal and you taking the credit for the results, this probably isn't the job for you.? Our team is hands-on and steps up to new challenges when they're presented.

?

A typical compliance engineer is actively supporting 3-4 programs in submittal at one time and shepherding an additional 5-6 teams in various stages of development.? This requires solid time- and project-management skills to juggle taking care of several teams all working on different deadlines.? Thriving in a multi-tasking environment is part of day-to-day life on our team.

?

Most days, you'll be working in Hillsboro, Oregon, but supporting programs in labs around the country and customers and design centers around the world sometimes requires that you travel.? In general, it should be less than 25% - usually much less - and generally only during the week, but in crunch times, we'll do what it takes to achieve the results we need.? Achieving an acceptable work/life balance is important at RadiSys and we recognize that means different things to different people.? Let us know what's important to you and we'll work to develop innovative ways to make it happen.

?

Top talent seeks out challenges and thrives on solving the problems thrown at them.? Problem-solving skills are another key attribute that will differentiate the successful candidate from the rest of the field.? In a day-to-day environment, this means making sure our products pass tests, but interesting challenges may come from anywhere - like figuring out ways to make products that pass achieve more margin, dealing with RoHS or EOL components in innovative ways, or figuring out how to get products through submittals faster, cheaper or more consistently using fewer or different resources.? If these opportunities sound interesting to you, explain to us what differentiates you from the other applicants you're up against.

?

Does this req read more like your Bio than our posting?? Good - that's what we were hoping for.? Hopefully, it will lead you to do something about it.? Call.? Write.? But don't wait.? This job will be gone and you'll wake up tomorrow with a sense of deja vu all over again....? Get out of that grind.? Help us make the next cool thing even better with your expertise.
