The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission is expected to rule next month on PPL Electric Utilities’ plan to build the $510 million Susquehanna-Roseland transmission line. Many homeowners along the route are protesting the line, concerned about health problems from high-voltage electromagnetic fields and the effects on property values. The plan calls for replacing the current 80-foot utility towers with 190-foot towers, and adding 500 kilovolts to the existing 230-kilovolt lines.
