Cancer Institute Issues Advice Re EM Exposure

06/17/09 04:03 PM

Ronald B. Herberman, MD

In a follow-up to a story that the eNews carried last summer, Dr. Ronald Herberman of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute has listed ten important precautionary steps for limiting an individual’s exposure to electromagnetic radiation from cell phone use. According to the Institute’s website, these recommendations have been reviewed by Pitt experts in neuro-oncology, epidemiology, neuro-surgery and by the Cancer Center for Environmental Oncology. The Institute’s posting emphasized that there is no conclusive data proving harm from cell phone use, but that a growing body of literature linking prolonged use to adverse health effects made taking these precautions a prudent step.
