New Device Features Capacitances up to 45 µF

The new B3292*E/F series from EPCOS offers X2 safety class capacitors with capacitances up to 45 µF. These components were developed for across-the-line applications at 305 VAC and 110 degrees C and are approved to IEC 60384, UL1238, and CSA 22.2 No. 8. The B3292*E/F series makes it possible to design EMI filters with a single 45-µF capacitor, resulting in the use of less PCB space along with reduced parasitic inductance. Improved noise suppression is achieved in the upper frequency range because of the higher resonant frequencies. Also, the reduction in soldering points simplifies testing while boosting reliability. With its large capacitance value, this series is well suited to use in filtering applications that require the suppression of high harmonic frequencies such as those found in the active front-end topologies of power converters.
